Frederik’s expertise focusses on international trade, sanctions and export controls. He has experience as a lobbyist in Brussels and public affairs advisor in the Hague and has an academic background in political science and law. Because of this cross-cutting perspective, Frederik is dedicated to advising clients on the complex interplay between law, politics and policy in the field of sanctions and export controls.
Before joining BenninkAmar Advocaten, Frederik worked as an advisor on international trade and investment for BusinessEurope (the confederation for European industry in Brussels). At BusinessEurope, Frederik mainly focussed on EU-China relations, export controls and business & human rights. He was, amongst others, responsible for coordinating BusinessEurope’s export control working group.
He also worked as an advisor for public affairs firm Wepublic, where he consulted clients on a wide variety of issues related to reputation and public affairs. This experience provided him with in-depth knowledge about political processes and policy cycles in the Hague and Brussels.
Frederik obtained a Bachelor of Science (Political Science/International Relations) and an Honours degree at Leiden University. He also studied at the Charles University of Prague and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Frederik is currently obtaining his Master of Law (International Trade and Investment Law) at the University of Amsterdam.
