EU Commission publishes report on dual-use export control regime

On 24 August 2016, the European Commission (the “Commission”) published a report on the EU export control regime for dual-use items.

The Commission report describes the latest developments of the EU export control policy and regulatory framework and the most recent activities of the Dual-use Coordination Group (the “DUCG”). The DUCG brings together experts from the Commission and Member States, examining the issues concerning the application of EU export controls with a view to practically improving their consistency and effectiveness throughout the EU. Furthermore, the Commission also reports on key data regarding EU export controls. The Commission estimates that the number of items subject to controls increased in 2015 and that dual-use items now comprise around 20% of total EU exports.
